Rotorua is a city in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealands' North Island. The city lies south of Lake Rotorua, from which it takes it's name. The city of Rotorua has an estimate population of 58,000, which makes it the regions second largest population centre, after Tauranga.

There is notable geothermal activity around the area, with multiple mud pools and geothermal springs.
